Phasmes (2008)

Video, DV, 2'12, Sound with Detlef Klepsch

Phasmes is a reflection on understanding and features footage of phasmids in a natural history museum. These creatures are so highly adapted to their surroundings that viewers can barely distinguish them from their environment. A female voice narrates a text, while the original sound of the video recordings has been subtly altered.

In 2025, the exhibition Fringe Phenomena at MMIII Kunstverein Mönchengladbach (GER) showed an installation by Detlef Klepsch and me: On the ground floor of the MMIII, we showed Rear Projections with mini projectors, headphones and steel frames, through which 7 video works with sound from the years 2008 to 2024 were accessible. Phasmes was part of this.
